The Alfa Hair Extension Process

Schedule A Consult
After you’ve filled out the extension application, it’s time to book your in person consultation. If you live farther away, we can also offer a virtual consultation, but meeting in person allows us to give you the most accurate recommendation for your hair, goals, and the extension method that will work best for you.
The extension consultation is $50 and takes approximately 30 minutes. If you decide to move forward and purchase your extension hair in the salon on the same day as your consultation, your $50 consultation fee will be applied toward your extension installation. If the hair is not purchased that day, the consultation fee will not be credited toward a future appointment.
Once you’re ready to move forward, you’ll pay for your extension hair in full so we can place your order. Extension hair typically takes around two weeks to arrive at the salon.
Hair Color
During your extension consultation, we’ll discuss your current hair color and what you’d like your finished color to look like once your services are complete. Depending on your starting point and your hair goals, we may recommend scheduling a color appointment before your extension installation.
We’ll walk you through what is realistically achievable while keeping the health of your hair in mind. In some cases, you may not need to color your natural hair at all. Extensions can be strategically placed to add brightness, dimension, contrast, or pops of color without changing your natural hair color.

Scheduling
Once any necessary color services are complete, we’ll move on to your extension installation. Your installation can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours depending on the extension method, your hair’s density and length, and the look we’re creating.
How soon we can schedule your installation will depend on both your availability and your stylist’s schedule. We’ll go over timing during your consultation so you know what to expect before purchasing your extension hair.

Maintenance
Most extension methods require maintenance approximately every 5 to 12 weeks, depending on the method, your natural hair growth, and how well your extensions are maintained at home. After your initial installation, we’ll help you schedule your first maintenance appointment based on the recommended timeline for your extension method.
At your first maintenance appointment, we’ll evaluate your new growth and how your extensions are wearing to determine whether we need to adjust the timing between future appointments.
We’ll also discuss your budget, lifestyle, and availability during your consultation so we can recommend an extension method with a maintenance schedule that realistically works for you.
