Your Curl Specialist begins by shaping your curls while they are dry so we can see how your natural texture lives and moves. Your service also includes a professional shampoo, conditioning treatment, curl definition, drying, and a final refining cut. The goal is a balanced shape that works with your natural texture and continues to look good as you style your hair between appointments.

A curly cut takes your natural texture, shrinkage, curl pattern, density, and the way your hair naturally moves into consideration throughout the service. Our Cultivated Curly Cut is designed for guests who primarily wear their natural texture and want their haircut created specifically around their curls.

A traditional haircut may be a better fit for guests who regularly wear their hair straight, switch frequently between straight and curly styles, or do not need a curl specific cutting and styling experience. We know that having "curly hair" does not mean everyone has the same texture or needs the same service. Your Curl Specialist considers your individual curl pattern, density, shrinkage, condition, styling habits, and goals when creating your service plan.

No. You do not need to know whether your hair is 2C, 3B, 4A, or any other curl type before booking your appointment.

Curl typing can be a helpful way to describe hair, but it does not tell us everything we need to know about how your hair behaves. Density, strand thickness, shrinkage, condition, porosity, styling habits, chemical history, and even different textures throughout your head can all affect what your hair needs.

Our job is to assess the hair that is actually on your head, not require you to figure it all out before you walk through the door.

Our Cultivated Curly Cut begins with dry shaping. Seeing your curls dry allows your Curl Specialist to evaluate how your individual texture, shrinkage, volume, and movement work together before creating your shape.

After the initial shaping, your service includes shampooing, conditioning, curl definition, and professional drying. Once your curls are styled and dry, we can refine the haircut and make final adjustments to the shape.

For your curly hair appointment, please arrive with your hair styled the way you normally wear your natural curls. Day 2 or Day 3 hair is ideal because it allows your Curl Specialist to see how your curls naturally fall, move, and behave between wash days.

Please avoid arriving with your hair in a bun, ponytail, braids, twists, or other protective styles that stretch, reshape, or hide your natural curl pattern. We need to be able to see your curls in their natural state so we can properly assess your current shape, texture, density, shrinkage, and areas of concern before we begin.

We also ask that you bring a list of the products you currently use at home. This helps your Curl Specialist better understand your current routine and gives us a starting point for recommending products or techniques that may work better for your hair.

You do not need to create perfect curls for your appointment. We want to see how you actually wear and care for your hair, so we can create a cut, style, and routine that works for your real life.

Absolutely, but tell us during your consultation that you wear your hair both curly and straight. How you normally style your hair matters when we decide how to approach your haircut. We may need to opt for the Versatile Curly Cut.

A guest who wears their natural curls almost exclusively may need something different from someone who frequently switches between curly styles, blowouts, and straight hair. Your stylist can discuss your styling habits and goals with you before deciding on the best approach.

Our curly color services incorporate bond building products and curl focused treatments throughout the process to help support your natural texture.

Healthy curls remain a priority while we work toward your color goals.

Any chemical service has the potential to affect the condition and behavior of your hair, especially when significant lightening is involved. That does not mean guests with curly hair cannot have beautiful color.

We consider your starting point, previous color, current condition, strength, elasticity, texture, and desired result before determining what is realistic for your hair. In some cases, reaching a color goal may require multiple appointments rather than pushing the hair too far in one visit.

You do not need to arrive already knowing everything about your curls. Education is a major part of our approach to curly hair.

During your appointment, your Curl Specialist can help you understand product application, sectioning, definition, drying, and styling techniques that make sense for your texture and lifestyle. We want you to understand what we are doing and why, so your hair does not only look good when you leave the salon.
